America Lost?
Sermon: sermonaudio.com/sermon/8121215353210 Counsels and Warnings

John Adams said that the “Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to govern any other.”
I am neither a politician nor a
theologian, but I do recognize the mutual interests and struggle between them.
These are perhaps the two most important areas of culture and life in general,
and the most to be avoided to be openly talked about as they will probably lead
to disagreements at some point—so avoid bringing them into any conversation. This appears
to be the norm within both politics and religion, and at all costs there is no
wiggle-room for government and church to communicate with each other. There’s
that separation misnomer, which has
created a crisis in America today—religiously apathetic and spiritually passive,
and an irrelevant patriotism has revisioned a new “we the people” who haven’t
noticed.
The Church in America, when
government separated the Church's influence from the public square, (not through the
proper litigation, but by the court usurping legislative power through opinions, which are not laws that when
violated punishment follows), failed to more urgently and ardently equip its
people to continue being a light they were called to be (morally) [Matt
5:14-16; John 8:12; Lev 19:2]. The Church’s shepherds are an example to the flock.
If the shepherds are fearful of teaching the
truth, then an expectation of the flock being properly equipped to live as
light in a darken culture is not rational. As the light is dimmed, darkness
increases, as can clearly be observed in the moral decline of America. A
secularized Christianity has appeared, rather than a nation of Christians
(followers of Christ) where objective
truth and justice should reign.
Preaching from the pulpit has become generalized and not relevant to the social issues in the culture. The new objective of the modern church is to be non-offensive or it's being bullied into the closet of moral correctness to sustain at least a facade of integrity. The flock, like sheep, are being led into a state of confusion by not knowing how to address the very real moral depravity that abounds in culture, and even worse how to advance the kingdom of God.
Religion and politics can’t be completely separated.
Religion is to influence personal and social behavior (morality), and politics must
protect moral correctness (not political correctness). Today the Church has
lost its influence, while politics redefines moral correctness to satisfy personal
and social depravities.
